Let’s Start Over

This attached home only had a very(!) small sitting area on the side of the house, so the front yard needed to be opened up and redesigned to create a more inviting entertainment area. A few specific requests were made: make a ramped walkway, unlike the existing one which had one step; and get rid of all of the grass.

The Best Sand Box
This house was a new construction that had already been landscaped using the HOA’s minimum requirements. As a result, there was a lot of rock! The client asked us to move as much rock as possible and add color – within reason. Since moving rock is very labor intensive, we identified the most visible and public areas to convert.

No More Weeds
This fixed-and-flipped residence was beautiful on the inside, but on the outside … not so much. We began by ripping out the lawn/weeds. We then divided the areas with steel edging for paths, a patio, a few flower gardens, and a new lawn area. The first phase, which was done in 2015, was to outline all of these areas and then to install an irrigation system – sprinklers for the lawn and drip for the plants and vegetable garden. The second phase is expected to be completed in 2017 with the addition of a lawn and flowering plants.

Riverside Patio
After years of surrendering their backyard to their lacrosse-playing son, this client wanted to create an oasis for the grown-ups with more patio seating space and a large water feature. We anchored the new space with a 25′ long river, created an open-air flagstone patio, and then added plants, flowers, a vegetable garden, and some fish.

Stapleton Update
Due to a shallow lot, this home had a very narrow patio space between the house and the garage that the owners wanted to maximize for entertaining and play. Our task was to create an inviting area for the family to hang out in on hot summer days and nights.

Las Vegas Oasis
A new home on the outskirts of Vegas was in need of some curb appeal. Due to the intense heat of summer, there were many restrictions on what could and could not be planted. We decided to forego a lawn since it would have to be artificial and might seem out of place in this desert environment. Instead we built patios, created two water features and planted a mini orchard.
